What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud?

My daughters! They say and do the craziest things! My oldest, who just recently turned 6, stood on the couch a few months ago and pointed at a wedding picture we have on the wall. The picture is me, the bride, standing before a group of men made up of my husband, his groomsmen, both our dads and other male family members. She said, “Mommy, can I ask you something?” I could hear the seriousness in her voice, so I said sure and listened closely. “Is this where you were deciding who to marry?” After I got done laughing I told her no, I knew well before that picture. It was especially funny because my dad is in that picture. Along with my brother in law and cousin and other men I most certainly was NOT going to marry! My youngest enjoys car rides and shouting, “Bus! Another Bus!” at any vehicle that goes by which happens to be bigger than a regular car. She makes me giggle regularly.

What is your favorite season of the year?

I really enjoy and appreciate the fall. I love the colors and how the air turns crisp and cool after a long, hot summer. The crunch of the leaves and being able to pile them up and jump in is just the best!

What is a favorite memory from your childhood?

I had a wonderful childhood so it’s hard to pick just one. I especially loved the times my family and I went to Adventureland, a small amusement park in the middle of Iowa. We’d get there when it opened and stay until it closed. We’d ride the water rides when it was hot and then hit the roller coasters to dry off. The joy of those yearly summer trips never wore off and I looked forward to them eagerly. I’ve since started taking such trips with my own daughter and it’s a great job to watch the same sense of wonder on her face.
