How do you plan, schedule and monitor your writing commitments?
I am actually a freelance writer in addition to an author. After 10 years in radio, I left to stay home with my oldest daughter (who is now 5). I wanted to find something I could do at home and writing seemed like a natural fit since I’ve always loved to do it. I started trolling for writing jobs and began finding them! I started my freelance writing business and it has only grown. It showed me my love for writing once again and I moved back over into the fiction world as well. But my freelance clients are still there! So I do both to the best of my ability. The biggest thing I have to watch is never overcommitting. Right now, because of my daughters, I only have about an hour a day with which to work. I don’t want to promise to get something done at a certain time that I can’t get done by that time. So planning and typing fast are a big part of it!
What are your future plans?
Right now, I’m just trying to keep up with client orders and editing and promotions for upcoming books. But in the future, several years from now when both of my daughters are in school, I have lots of plans for more books. I have several book series in mind and I really want to do quite a bit more than I am capable of doing now simply because of time.
