Well, it's official! I have a new work in progress! I had no idea I was going to start writing another novel. In fact, I fought it! And I didn't think I would write anything else for many months, if not years. But as I've said before, when an idea bugs me, I start writing only when I can't NOT write it down. And that is the case this time.

This new book is related to "Accept this Dandelion." In a big way! One of the characters in the book decided another book needed to be written and centered around her. The new book, I am tenatively calling "Dandelions on the road" and is about a localized version of the BACHELORETTE TV show. It will be another romantic comedy and will surely be highly entertaining. At least I hope!

As is true whenever I write fiction, it goes quickly because I can't stop writing until it's finished. SO I hope to have news of completion in a month or two. At that point, I like to let the book sit for a while before I go back through and self-edit as much as I can. Then, I'll decide what to do with it. I have about four different avenues in mind at this point, but we'll see what the finished product demands!

In the meantime, I am looking forward to the August release of "Mamarazzi" with Prism Book Group. I just came up with a vision for the cover that I submitted to the publisher and I am now anxiously awaiting the results of that.

Thank you all so much for your support of my recent romantic comedies. "Wrong Place, Right Time" has hit the amazon best seller list int he #6,000 league. "Accept this Dandelion" has gotten all the way up to #4,000. I hope to see those numbers get even smaller as time goes by. :) Thank you for your reviews and kind words and thank you most of all for telling your friends about the hilarity of these books.

Hopefully, I will have even more for you to read soon!

Excerpt

As I slip quietly out of the suite and rush toward the elevator, I can’t deny I’m feeling a little better about Vegas.

That is, until the elevator doors open.

Standing there, leaning against the stainless steel wall with a cocky smile on his face, is the one person I really didn’t want to see this weekend.

With a miserable groan, I step inside the elevator and furiously stab the button.

“Are you following me, Summers?”

“I’d follow your dimples anywhere, York.”

Ethan Summers is infuriatingly charming and handsome. Both assets have proven to be beneficial to his career and detrimental to mine.

“Well, these dimples just lifted Bradley Jones’ credit card numbers.”

“Impressive. Although, one might argue that a more superior con artist would be capable of accomplishing such a feat without showing a little skin. Really, Jenna, I’m disappointed.”

He rarely calls me by my first name. Last names have always been our thing.

“Were you watching me?”

“Every heterosexual man in the casino was watching your little performance. Nice legs, by the way.”

Crap.

“Not good,” I mutter.

“No, but I enjoyed it.”

Ethan grins as the elevator doors open. I don’t protest when he grabs me by the elbow and leads me toward the nearest exit. It’s not brightly lit, but there’s a very nice bouncer that Ethan greets by name who allows us to walk right out the door and into the starry Nevada night. He doesn’t let go of my arm as we hurry toward a black SUV.

“Why are you helping me?”

“You drugged a millionaire and stole his credit card info. I think it’s best we get you out of town.”

That doesn’t really answer my question, but I can’t argue with his logic.

Ethan opens the passenger door and helps me inside.

“Nice stilettos.”

I glare at him, and he shoots me a sexy smile before slamming my door.

It’s really too bad that I hate his guts.

Ethan Summers and I have crossed paths many times throughout the past couple years. It’s unavoidable, considering we’re two of the finest criminal minds in the world.

That’s what the news says, anyway.

“Let me guess,” Ethan says as he pulls the SUV out onto the highway. “You used Rohypnol on Jones?”

I roll my eyes. “I’m a thief, not a sexual predator.”

“Well, you obviously slipped something into his drink.”

“Sleeping pill.”

Ethan hums his disapproval. I can’t argue with him. Slipping Bradley a sedative is so amateur.

“I was desperate. The entire weekend has been a complete waste of time. When did the Viper install dome cams?”

“A few weeks ago. The casino’s hosting the U.S. Poker Championship next month. Ceiling cams are a requirement.”

“Super.”

“I know.”

“So, if you knew about the cameras, what were you doing at the casino?”

“Let’s just say a little birdie told me you were hitting the Viper tonight. I had a feeling you might need my assistance.”

“So you’ve been talking to Abby.”

He remains silent and keeps his eyes trained on the freeway, giving me the chance to study his profile. Ethan has a mop of unruly dark hair and deep blue eyes that make most girls go weak in the knees.

Not this girl. Nope.

“Like what you see?”

My face heats. I hate when he catches me ogling him.

“You’re an ass.”

He laughs. “Someday, Jenna, you’re going to stop fighting this attraction between us. I’m really looking forward to that.”

~~SUMMARY~~

Maybe-3D-Paperback-eReader Emily Portman loves her job. A writer for Breakout! Magazine, she shadows and showcases up-and-coming bands. When her next assignment takes her to Austin, Texas, she can’t wait to add the city to her map of places she’s visited. Places she’s left without looking back. Her plan is to keep moving on, and the last thing she needs is a man holding her back. She’s not going down that road again. Tyler Macy is stuck in a rut. Despite his exceptional talent as a musician, he has chosen to take a backseat with his music and let others grab the limelight. Wounded and mistrustful, he doesn’t appreciate his friends’ efforts to bring him back to center stage. Emily comes onto the scene and sees his full potential, but he fights to stay in the shadows, shutting her out before she can add to the scars another woman gave him. For Tyler to find his music again, he needs to accept the help that Emily and their friends offer. When he discovers that his muse lies underneath Emily’s skin, it is still not enough to keep her from walking away. Neither will admit what they really want until it is too late. Emily is once again thrown in Tyler’s path when she is assigned to join them on tour. Despite the pain in his past, Tyler sees that she is worth it, even if she’s stolen both his heart and peace of mind. In order for them to be together, they both must discover whether the music and their passion are enough to overcome the obstacles that separate them. Maybe finding love is worth the risk.

~~EXCERPT~~
Maybe-3D-Book-Stack-1Walking toward him is like trudging through the deepest mud, but I hold my head high, my hands in my pockets and strides long. When I'm less than a foot away, his head turns toward me without lifting his chin, and he looks up from under his brows. The white smoke from his cigarette causes his eyes to nearly close before he pulls it from his lips and exhales upward into the air. I'm struck by how incredibly handsome he is in black wool and new jeans. I want to know if his skin feels hot under his clothes and if his back feels the same when I scratch fingernails across his spine. My fists clench in my coat pockets at the thought. This is going to be so much harder than I'd been prepared for.

~~ABOUT THE AUTHOR~~
AuthPhotA true child of music, Amber's parents surrounded her with the loudest beats they could find, molding her into a girl who found inspiration and meaning in lyrics and chords. Raised on John Hughes movies, Luck Dragons, and pirate ships, she dreamed of love and adventure. When Amber began to create her own world, she envisioned a place where Happy Ever Afters do exist. Since then, she has authored several romance novels, all of which focus on songs and the way they can touch people's lives. Music may not be able to fix a broken heart, but it can provide one hell of a soundtrack for healing. A full-time wife and mother with a full-time job, Amber finds her muse in everyday life and the people who bring her inspiration.

Interview excerpt:

Your dream destination on Earth?

I’ve always wanted to visit Australia but don’t know if I’ll ever make it because I don’t enjoy plane rides and that’s a REALLY long flight.

Your favorite time of the day?

Morning. Yep, I’m a morning person! I get up way too early to run and sometimes get in a little writing before my daughters wake up. I feel freshest in the morning. It isn’t long before I realize I got up too early and should have slept later so the hour or two in the morning is the only time when I don’t feel the exhaustion.

Your favorite color and why?

I’ve always been drawn to blue. I think because it’s a cool, calming color. It suits my personality.

What is the last book you finished reading? What is the current book you are reading?

I just finished “When Night Comes” by Dan Walsh. And now I’m reading a compilation of stories that take place on planes called “Frequent Flyers.” I know one of the authors involved in that project so I wanted to check it out and am enjoying it so far!

Interview excerpt:

What is generally your preference in reading – a paper book or ebook? And why?

I prefer paperbacks, but I only read ebook right now. The reason for this is that time is very short for reading and the only time I find myself able is when I am rocking my little one to sleep. I can’t hold a paperback in the dark and see! So I use my phone with a kindle app to get in a couple of chapters each night.

How much real life goes into a fiction writing?

Quite a bit, depending on the book! In “Wrong Place, Right Time” the lead character is a bumbling traffic reporter. I did that job in real life for 5 months and was equally bad at it. So many of her experiences on the job and the descriptions of the newsroom are real. In “Accept this Dandelion,” the lead character is a radio announcer and producer, a job I did for a full decade so much of that is real as well. The main character in “God in the Kitchen” is in radio as well. In “Someone Always Loved You,” a woman is in a coma and experiences some of her memories and thoughts. Many of those memories are things that really happened to me. At the same time, much of my work is completely made up. It’s a unique blend!

Interview excerpt:

How do you plan, schedule and monitor your writing commitments?

I am actually a freelance writer in addition to an author. After 10 years in radio, I left to stay home with my oldest daughter (who is now 5). I wanted to find something I could do at home and writing seemed like a natural fit since I’ve always loved to do it. I started trolling for writing jobs and began finding them! I started my freelance writing business and it has only grown. It showed me my love for writing once again and I moved back over into the fiction world as well. But my freelance clients are still there! So I do both to the best of my ability. The biggest thing I have to watch is never overcommitting. Right now, because of my daughters, I only have about an hour a day with which to work. I don’t want to promise to get something done at a certain time that I can’t get done by that time. So planning and typing fast are a big part of it!

What are your future plans?

Right now, I’m just trying to keep up with client orders and editing and promotions for upcoming books. But in the future, several years from now when both of my daughters are in school, I have lots of plans for more books. I have several book series in mind and I really want to do quite a bit more than I am capable of doing now simply because of time.
