Discovering New Online Events

10/11/2014

One thing I've learned since I started embarking into the marketing side of being an author is that there are tons of online events! These events are SO  much fun! I get to connect with new readers who may not have heard about my work yet. I get to chat with others who simply love to read. I get to connect with writers who think many of the same things that I do. And I get to talk with people that I would NEVER have connected with otherwise. It's a win win if you ask me! I've done a lot of online events since I discovered them and I will do as many as my schedule and my daughters allow.

This week, there's a great event going on called the "Clean Romance Event." It's for romance authors that write in a clean fashion. That means there will be no scenes in their books that will cause you any embarrassment. You can join in on the week long party here.  Just click on join and you will get details in your newsfeed as things arise.

But if you want to join the party when I'll be there, I'll be hosting two specific hours. On Monday the 13th, I'll be there from noon-1pm central time. And on Thursday the 15th I'll be around 1-2pm. I'll do giveaways, play games, chat about my stories, and just get to know you! I'd love to have you drop by and discover this way fun online event. You don't have to bring anything. You don't have to dress up! It's a good time and it's very easy!!

Hope to chat with you soon!

Again, join in on the Clean Romance event here!

Beyond the Bars on Sale!!!

Beyond the Bars is a thriller I wrote as a complete experiment. It's different than anything I've ever written before. It's written from the perspective of five different people and I did not plan out or think about what would happen between chapters. I just let the character I was working with that day take me where they would! It starts with a bus explosion occurring in several different cities at once. The five characters I worked with, including a mother, a priest, a prison inmate, a Midwest cop, and a spirit, react to the scary events in different ways. The story takes us through a kidnapping, heroics, a prison break and much more. It's a really interesting way to view one event...through five people. I have put the book on sale if you want to check out something unique and different. It'll by 99 cents October 9th through the 16th and you can buy it on kindle here. There are paperbacks available as well but they're at a set price and not a sale.

Picture
Beyond the Bars is a tense story carried out with the classic ‘Rashomon effect’, in which multiple-viewpoint characters go through similar events, each with a different experience.

A homegrown terrorist rallies several terrorist organizations and convinces them to carry out a meticulous plan. The goal is to rid the country of so-called evil by targeting specific people by location. Using the latest in powerful, military-grade explosives, they set off coordinated blasts at three of the nation’s crowded bus terminals. Hundreds are killed. Fear sweeps the nation. Through five lead characters we see how their lives are disrupted by the terror campaign. Their worlds merge and intersect because of this frightening experience.

PROLOGUE

It was too hot in the small San Francisco apartment, but the bomb maker hardly noticed.  The months of training, planning and preparation were almost over.  He had been looking forward to this day…when it would all come together.  In his excitement, he waited too long to get started on the final preparations and he was going to have to rush completing his pipe bomb, but he was sure it would work.  Building explosive devices was what he did best.  He had gone through months of training with the organization on a remote vineyard far outside city limits just for that purpose.

The items on the table in front of him were all familiar.  Soon, they would become a sophisticated piece of work that would blow plums of black smoke into the sky.  The steel pipe, the lead wires, the fuse, and even the C-4 looked harmless enough.  Properly assembled, the simple items would kill many.  The numbers weren’t even as important as the exact targets.  He wasn’t privy to the details within the plan but he knew if everything went as it was supposed to go, he would be moving up in the organization.

He picked up the long wooden rod and packed the plastique into the pipe.  He had to make sure everything was tight and that no air pockets remained.  He had already placed the timer and detonator inside and once the brass caps were in place on either end of the pipe, the bomb looked compact and professional.  He had already succeeded.  Now it was time to take the last step.

He turned the small bomb over in his hands, a light smile on his face.  Things were going to work out according to the plan that had been handed down to them.  He grabbed a canvas backpack and unzipped it next to the foot long pipe.

Inside were a few paperback books and pages from yesterday’s Examiner.  He gently placed the bomb inside the bag, hiding it under the books and papers.  If anyone caught a quick glance inside the bag, nothing would seem out of the ordinary.

Part of the plan was finished.  Now, he had to complete the final step…getting the bomb to the target.  He didn’t bother worrying about cleaning up the incriminating evidence he was leaving behind.  He had worn gloves while he had worked on the bomb over the last few days and anything the authorities found would simply do them no good.

As he swung the bag onto his back, he began to say his prayers.  He wasn’t even sure he believed in God anymore, but with a bomb strapped to his back, there was no reason not to pray.

He pushed open the flimsy wooden apartment door, letting it slam shut behind him.  He then pulled his phone out of his pocket in a fluid motion and entered the text message code he had received along with his assignment.  Now, the others would know he had completed his part of the plan.

The bomb was ready and so was he.  It was time.

The action-packed conclusion to the MORE Trilogy is here!

Twelve cover

Ava Michaels is gifted, powerful, and — whether she likes it or not — part of a plot to take over the world.

It’s only been a few months since Ava Michaels discovered she has ties to an ancient people living in the shadows of the human world, despite their superior gifts and abilities. A select few don’t like hiding, however, and think it’s time to take control.

Now Ava’s caught up in a conspiracy in the works before she was even born. In fact, her birth was an integral part of the plan. She’s one of the Twelve, the most powerful Race ever created, and they were created for a purpose.

Turns out, Ava doesn’t like being told what to do.

All she wants is to start a new life with her boyfriend, Caleb Foster, but before they can even think about that, they must join forces with former enemies, seek out some powerful new friends, and figure out what exactly the Twelve, and their power-hungry leader, are up to.

Then, they have to find a way to stop them.
