Backwards Christmas

The holidays are upon us! What better to get you in the right frame of mind than a short little Christmas story? "Backwards Christmas" is a comical story with a big heart. It's only about 40 pages long (in Microsoft Word form) so it doesn't take long to read. And it's a great gift for a friend or family member who's on your mind...at just .99!

When I heard Prism Book Group was going to do several Christmas compilations, I knew I wanted in. They were doing one with historical type stories. That's not me. I prefer to make stuff up rather than use historical settings. They were also doing a Christmas present compilation. Sign me up! I knew the title right off the bat. And I knew the story was based in Alaska. Plenty of snow to go around there! I had some trouble coming up with a clever town name, but my husband suggested South Pole, Alaska. Get it? Alaska is closer to the NORTH Pole, so having things backwards and all, South Pole, Alaska made perfect sense!

I love the premise of this story. A small Alaska town in trouble financially when the major comes up with the idea of Backwards Christmas to bring in tourists. It works! But it doesn't go well for everyone and leaves a bitter man behind. There's drama...snow storms...decorating...ornament creations...mishaps and more!

I got the chance to read the story a couple of times recently as it went through its final drafts and it made me smile a lot more than I remembered. It's always fun to re-visit stories once I forget what I wrote a bit.

I'd like to invite you to enjoy the wonders of "Backwards Christmas." Whether you do Christmas frontwards, backwards, or any other way in between, enjoy the season!

It's out! And you can get it HERE!!!
Okay, now that I have that out of my system, let me also invite you to the release day party. Noon-7pm central time! HERE

Twelve men…one woman…plenty of dandelions. Eva Merida has her life in order. She loves her job at the Furry Friends Rescue League and has a loving, supportive family. But she’s still missing that one special person to stand by her side. When she comes in third place on the local TV version of “The Bachelor,” entitled Accept this Dandelion, she nearly loses all hope for romance. Fortunately, the TV station decides to do a second season of the dating show…and they name Eva as the Bachelorette! With a plethora of dating mishaps recorded for TV, Eva finds herself falling for several men at once…including the show’s host. Will she find love at last or simply embarrass herself in front of the entire city?

Let me tell you a little more about this book. I wrote "Accept this Dandelion" in a silly mood with a baby laying on a boppy in front of me for many of the chapters. I thought it was a fun book and that was that. But some of the characters wouldn't leave me alone and begged for their own story. Honestly, I didn't mind because I loved the storyline so much I was GLAD to write it! And so, "Accept this Dandelion" quickly expanded into "The Dandelions Series." "Dandelions on the Road" is book two. It can certainly be read as a stand alone, but it's fun to read after "Accept this Dandelion" too. I also have book three written, "After the Final Dandelion" that I hope to put out this spring or summer.

I have the book up for .99 for now, so grab it sooner rather than later! It will go up to 2.99 probably after the holidays.

I can't tell you enough about what writing does for my life. I am just so grateful that I get to do this and call it a career. Every time I sit down at the keyboard, whether I have five minutes or an hour, it's a dream come true. And I have you, the reader, to thank for that. I would probably write whether anyone read my ramblings or not, but it is so much more satisfying to know that other people get even half as much joy from what I do as I get creating these little ditties.

And though I always promise myself to take a break from novels to concentrate on freelance writing, that is a promise I can NOT seem to keep! Not a month after I said I wasn't going to write any more novels until my youngest started school, I began and then quickly completed another novel called "The Leftover."

But before we get to any more novels, keep November 20th in mind for this short Christmas story. You can pre-order it HERE

Local tour guide Noelle Richards loves everything Backwards Christmas has to offer in South Pole, Alaska. She gets wrapped up in the upside down trees, taking presents TO Santa Clause and all the festivities. Sled dog trainer Chris Furst, on the other hand, approaches the holiday with nothing but skepticism. When their history bubbles into the present, their difference of opinion comes to a head. When Chris gets himself into a dangerous situation in the snow, Noelle and the hope of Christ are his only hope for redemption.
This short story is a quick, fun little read that includes some of my signature romantic comedy styles as well as some more serious topics. It's based in South Pole, Alaska (Get it?) where nothing about Christmas is as it usually is!  I hope you enjoy it! It sure was fun to write!!

I'll keep you updated on the latest, promise!!
