Okay, so I was in radio for 12 years.  I know what it's like to be on the air.  I've sneezed, had the hiccups, forgotten my name and done any number of other embarrassing things.  Wednesday, August 28th, I had my very first radio interview as an author.  This time, I wasn't in control of the buttons.  I couldn't go to commercial if I wanted or start a song if I wanted.  I just had to talk and answer the questions asked.

I haven't been on the radio in several years.  I left when my oldest daughter was nearing 2 and she's 4 now.  I also did not normally do hour long talk shows.  Especially with a 7-month-old baby in my lap.  With all that said, the interview on Fremont's AM 1340 KHUB with Rachel went really well.  My daughter Sadie only squealed with delight once.  And only tried to grab the phone from my ear half a dozen times.

The announcer, Rachel, is also an author and knew her stuff in terms of the publishing business.  Looking back on it now, I didn't even really talk about my specific books all that much, but more about publishing, being a mom, and balancing it all.  Overall, it was a great experience and a wonderful way to dip my toe back into the marketing world...as an author!  I hope to put the whole podcast up on the website at some point.  Until I figure out how...most likely with the help of my more technologically inclined husband, you can listen to it here:

I have to say, for an hour long LIVE show, I did pretty well.  I only said "heaving bosoms" once!  Let me explain.  Rachel asked what type of genre I write and I told her I write a lot of different types.  I have written thrillers, dramas, romance and so on.  I went on to say that the type of romance I currently write is not of the "Heaving bosom" variety.  She them said, did you just say heaving bosoms on the air?  And yes, I had. :)  I think I need to find a new way to describe what I DON'T write.  haha.  Another fun day in the world of live radio.

Since my book "Wrong Place, Right Time" isn't slotted to come out until December 2014, I will have a lot more time to figure out how to describe what it is and what it isn't.  Until then, I look forward to doing more radio interviews, blog questionnaires and so forth.  Who knows, maybe I'll even get invited onto a TV show...I was in TV for 5 whole months after all.  That's another story...
