Interview with Carmen Riley from
Beauty Restored
by Rachel Skatvold

Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today, Carmen. Could you start off by telling us a few interesting facts about yourself?

Carmen: (Grins and shakes the interviewer’s hand) Thanks for having me. Let’s see … I’m pretty clumsy for one. I trip over my own feet sometimes. (Giggles) I’d choose orange pop over a caffeinated drink any day and I have one more semester of school before graduation.

Interviewer: Interesting. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what’s your major?

Carmen: Art education. Painting and drawing have always been a passion of mine and I hope I can teach kids to love and appreciate it as much as I do.

Interviewer: That’s wonderful. I’m sure you’ll make a great art teacher. Now, let’s switch gears a little. I’m sure everyone is wondering how you how you are related to Katherine and Sarah Riley. Care to fill us in?

Carmen: I’m Luke Riley’s daughter. Katherine and Sarah are my older cousins but we’re as close as sisters. Sarah and I used to be running buddies when she lived here in Brimsfield and Katherine’s kids even like to call me Auntie Carmen sometimes. I love those kids like they are my own.

Interviewer: (Raises her eyebrows) That reminds me, I heard through the grape vine that you are the only single young lady in the Riley Family right now. Any love interests?

Carmen: (Blushes and shakes her head) No. I’m kind of shy and don’t have much time for dating right now.

Interviewer: Well, if you have time in the future, what qualities would you look for in a guy?

Carmen: What qualities? (Bites her lip) That’s a tough one. I guess I’m looking for a man who puts God first. A good listener with old-fashioned values would be nice. And I wouldn’t mind having doors opened for me every now and then.

Interviewer: Well, that sounds like a tall order these days.

Carmen: (Twirls a stand of her blonde hair and grins) I’m in no hurry. I know God will send the right guy my way when the time is right.

Interviewer: (Chuckles) Well, we’re out of time, but you let me know when Mr. Right comes along … especially if he has an available brother.

Carmen: (Giggles) I will.
