As I got into the story I realized this was book two of what the author calls the undercover series. There are three books. And while I didn't feel I had to have read book one firsts since the author explains things, I wish I had because I feel I would have had a much better grasp on the characters and their situations.
The story is very intriguing. The main characters father was murdered and ages going after the culprit who also happens to be a bank robber. I have no complaints about that aspect of the plot or about the authors writing, which is stellar.
My issues came a bit later when sex seemed to take over the book. There was one scene early on but I decided to overlook it because the writing was so good and the plot so interesting. But then there was another and another and another. I feel like those scenes overshadowed what could have been an intriguing mystery. It was hard to concentrate on the part I really wanted to read with all the interruptions.
I gave to admit here that I prefer clean reads without such scenes. So perhaps I am biased in that way. But if you decide to read the book I wanted to make sure you are aware they are there and they are plentiful.
My only other complaint is a style issue. The chapters are long. I prefer shorter chapters because I an often interrupted and it's nice to be able to stop at a breaking point. Though there were breaks within chapters and that helped.
So overall I admire this writers writing. She's good. Very good. I would love to read more of her work if she has books with great plots like this one but with less sex.
