First Library Event & Prism Book Bash Invitation

Last Thursday, May 22nd, I did my first library event.  The library was kind enough to host myself and another local author.  We took turns speaking and then people were able to ask questions.  We also brought books to sell and sign for readers.
It was a nice first event because it was a small venue.  I was a little worried because I take my daughters to the library regularly and I asked the librarian that very morning how many people usually show up.  She said they either have a room full or none.  I hoped the other author would bring in lots of people because I didn't know how many were coming for me!  But in the end, the room was about half full.  It was perfect.  Not too many, but at least some!

I hadn't really had much time to prepare what I was going to say with my two crazy daughters running around the house all day and other projects and writing assignments waiting for me when they were sleeping.  So hopefully I made sense!  I just went over how I got into writing and a short version of my publishing career and why I love it so much.  I took a lot of books because I had no idea what to expect and didn't want to run out.  About half the people there bought a book and nearly all of the rest took one of my business cards and said they were going to look up kindle versions online.

It was a fun event and something completely out of the ordinary for me on a Thursday night. I'm normally home chasing the girls around the driveway.  So I enjoyed getting out and talking to adults!  It was nerve wracking because as a writer, I'm used to sitting at home alone and interacting with the imaginary people I make up...not real ones looking at me!  But I think I survived it well and I look forward to doing more such events...especially with my two upcoming released in December (Wrong Place, Right Time) and February 2015 (Accept this Dandelion).

Until my next LIVE event, I have an invitation for you regarding an online party!

I am a new author with Prism Book Group, but I have been trying my best to read the work of other authors within the group and participate in their facebook page and so on.  When I heard the group wanted to start having monthly online facebook parties, I jumped in!  The first party will be May 30th from 6-9 pacific time.  Join the party here.

It's going to be a lot of fun.  Several of the Prism Book Group authors will host a portion of the event.  There will be giveaways, question and answer times, details on a variety of books, and just time with other authors and readers.

If you are free that evening, even if you will be in and out, it'd be great to have you join the event.  By joining using the above link, you will get updates on your facebook page when someone posts within the party.  You can read what interests you and skip the rest!  Prism Book Group plans to hold these parties monthly, hopefully the last Friday of the month each time.  I look forward to being a part of them!  I participated in similar party in the form of a cover reveal recently during which I "took over" the party for 20 minutes.  It was a lot of fun interacting with readers and answering questions.  It was a bit of a challenge with a baby in my lap, but I made it work!

I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming in person event or online during one of the Facebook parties.  Hope to "see" you virtually on Friday!
