Amelia Moore, the founder of the Moore Detective Agency, specializes in missing persons. Her cases have taken her to some very interesting places and put her in some dangerous situations, but she always solves the case. With the help of her partner, Rick Bonito, the business is flourishing.
Pauline Jones is confused why her boyfriend took off without telling a soul where he was going. But that isn’t all. Sam Whitaker is accused of stealing a valuable porcelain doll from the museum. His disappearance makes him look guilty, but Pauline is convinced he is innocent. When Amelia finds Sam, she realizes they need to prove his innocence. Where is the antique doll and who has taken it?

Tell us about your writing background. What got you started and why have you continued?
I have always loved writing. What got me started? After writing my ancestors’ and parents’ biographies, I couldn’t stop writing. So I turned to historical romances. Since my ancestors’ stories were so vivid in my mind, I actually gave some of their exciting experiences to the main characters. So my ancestors were the inspiration for getting me started. My first historical romance, Melinda and the Wild West, actually won an award for the Reviewers Choice Award. After writing five romances, I turned to mysteries. All my stories are family friendly. Why have I continued? Because it’s so much fun to create stories and use my imagination.
Where did you get the idea for this book?
The Amelia Moore Detective Series is a cozy mystery that involves missing persons. So I try to create a story around a missing person and make it intriguing at the same time. I’m not sure where I get my ideas. I just think about an area that I would like to set my next story and then try to come up with a story that would fit that area. In this story, Amelia and Rick end up at Estes Park, Colorado in the famous Stanley Hotel that is supposedly “haunted.” Haha. I stayed at this hotel once with my husband and daughter and it was such a fun experience. And no, I didn’t see any ghosts while I was there. But I did see the famous Stanley Steamer Automobile.

What comes next after this book? What are your current works in progress?
The next book in this series will be called “Her Lost Love.” Julie Anderson hires Rick and Amelia to search for a high school sweetheart. She feels a need to find the man she fell deeply in love with during her youth. When Julie was eighteen, her parents sent her off to college to become a lawyer and they eventually lost contact with one another. She now wants to know what happened to Joey? Why did he stop writing to her all of a sudden? Where did he end up? This is an assignment that intrigues Amelia. The thought of finding a long lost love seems quite romantic to her.
What's your favorite book/author?
One of my favorite authors is Serena Clarke. I absolutely love her fantasy romances. They are clean and refreshing stories and I feel as if I am right in the middle of a make-believe world because she describes everything, including the characters, so well. What can I say? I’m a pushover for clean romances! She has written The Treasure of Isian and The Alliance of Isian, and is working on the third book in this series.
Tell us some details on one of the characters in this novel.
Rick Bonito, Amelia’s partner, is such a cute character. Rick is good-looking and in his thirties with chocolate brown hair and a light olive complexion, just like the picture on my book cover. His dark stubble is close to his face because he hates shaving, but it doesn’t bother Amelia. She rather likes it. The stubble-look is his signature. When he folds his arms across his chest, it is obvious that he works out at the gym. He is totally ripped.
As for his personality, he loves to joke around and is quite informal. Instead of opening the passenger’s side door of his truck, he always opens the driver’s side and tells Amelia to “Scoot in.” So she just scoots across the seat, past the steering wheel and doesn’t mind at all.
Why should a reader pick up this book and devour it?
Well, if a reader loves Cozy Mysteries, then this book is right up their alley. What is a cozy mystery? It’s a G-rated story. Usually the sleuth is an intelligent woman who must solve the case. Most are about solving a crime, but this new series involves missing persons.
Tell us a couple of strange things about yourself that don't usually come up in interviews.
I don’t know how much people know about me, but I decided to go back to college when my youngest child was in grade school. I graduated in 2002 and I’m so glad that I did. It was a wonderful experience and I learned so much. I was the only “older” person in class, surrounded by young people on every side of me. They were all very accepting of me and that made me happy.
