It's been too long! Update!!!!!!

Well, first let me apologize for my lack of fresh blogs. I do well at a weekly thing for a while and then not so much. Summer is in full swing and with two little girls literally on me for much of the day, it's hard to get it all in!

But I can't put it off any longer. I have news. Big news! Actually, several pieces. So let's get to it!

Yes, you're seeing that correctly! It's the cover for Baby Sheep Gets a Haircut! The news here is that the book is nearing completion. I've been working with an illustrator for the last couple of months and it's coming together! I want to have it ready to roll this fall in hopes of visiting some elementary classrooms to read this story and "Shower in the Rain". I will also offer to present some story-telling ideas, like a mini workshop and offer to answer questions students might have for an author. It should be fun. (Speaking of which, if you know of any teachers that might like to have me as a guest, let me know!)

I figured this would be my big project for the summer. Keeping up with the illustrator and trying to satisfy freelance clients is enough to do in the one hour a day I have away from my two crazy girls. :)

However, I have MORE news.

This news has nothing to do with being upside down, but it seems sort of crazy so the picture works. :)

I wrote another romantic comedy a while back that I'm calling "The Leftover." I didn't really know what I wanted to do with it, but I submitted it to a few agents/publishers here and there as time allowed and let the "nos" roll in. Always a fun thing, right? Maybe not so much, but what do you do!

Anyway, last week, I got a contract offer for "The Leftover" from BQB Publishing. I spoke with the President of the company for nearly an hour late last week to ask questions and once I thought it all through, I signed on. The contract is actually out in my mailbox right now, waiting for our postal person to pick it up and get it on its way. According to the contract, if all goes well, "The Leftover" (or whatever the title ends up being) should release June 20, just in time for summer reading next year.

I'm super excited about this new venture with BQB. I've had good experiences with publishers in the past, but this particular publisher has a distributor and sales/marketing rep and it's possible the book will be sold in bookstores like Barnes and Noble. Whereas most of my books are currently available online and through me, this would be a big step to reach a wider audience.

We'll see how it goes, there's no telling for sure at this point. But I feel like I have to keep following that dream!

Other than that, just trying to keep up with two little girls that are WAY faster than I'll ever be. The literally run circles around me on a daily basis. :)

Hope you're doing a lot of reading this summer! Check in anytime!!
