Mamarazzi to be Published!

Back in November I began forming a plan to write a new novel.  The premise was an idea I had had for a while, actually since college.  I wanted to write a novel about a paparazzi who stumbles onto a set, gets thrown onto a show, and becomes famous.  The paparazzi is then the one being chased and photographed.  I even wrote a piece of the story in screenplay form in a college class.

Since I have had recent success in the romance genre, I wanted to put a twist on the idea and turn it into a romance somehow.  I decided writing it from the female perspective would be best.  I then turned the paparazzi in the story into a woman and changed the title of the idea to "Mamarazzi!"

Once I decided those things, I couldn't wait to start the novel.  However, I needed names for my characters.  And I'm not good at naming!  So I used this blog and my facebook page to give you details about the characters one by one.  I didn't have many details because those always come up as I write, but I had a few general ideas.  And you, the readers, named the characters in "Mamarazzi" one by one.  I was thrilled with the result and I know I never could have come up with the names on my own.

The naming occurred in November and December and then I planned to write the manuscript in January.  I told all of my freelance clients that I would disappear for a while and then I wrote.  Once the novel was complete, I asked for a few beta readers to go through it for me in its most raw form.  I wanted to see if there were any story holes or huge mistakes that I as the writer wouldn't see.

The beta readers loved the story and pointed out a few loose ends I should really tie up.  I actually knew those things were open and wondered if anyone would notice.  They did.  :)  I then left the story alone for several months so I could forget what I'd done and look at it with fresh eyes.

I went through and edited the novel to the best of my small editing ability and I added a few things to help tie up the loose ends.  I then submitted it to my current publisher Prism Book Group with fingers crossed.  A couple of months passed, but just a few weeks ago, I got a contract offer for "Mamarazzi!"  I'm thrilled with the fact that I had so many people involved in its creation because all of us wanted this to be the end result.  "Mamarazzi" will hit the scene in August 2015.  It's a ways off, but we have plenty to look forward to in the meantime..."Wrong Place, Right Time" in December 2014..."Accept This Dandelion" in February 2015...those sorts of things! :)

So thank you once again for the help you provided for names and reading critiques and so on.  "Mamarazzi" wouldn't be the same without your input. I look forward to presenting it to you in full published form.  All we have to do is wait!

In the meantime, I'll give you the current first line of the story.  It could be changed in editing, of course, but it'll give you a very small taste:

She wasn’t sure what bothered her more…what she did for a living or the fact that she was good at it.
