![]() A few weeks ago while my older daughter was in preschool my phone rang. This is noteworthy because no one hardly ever calls me. :) So when I answered and the person on the other end said, "Is this Brooke?" my heart began to beat hard. The reason for that was because I recognized it as a local number and I thought perhaps my daughter was sick at preschool and I needed to go get her. I'm a mom. I panic. :) But instead, it was the library. Whew! Once I realized that fact, I calmed down a bit. Then they asked me if I'd be willing to do an author event on the evening of May 22nd. I would get half an hour or so to speak and I could bring books to sell and sign for those interested. I agreed immediately, of course, and was shocked and thrilled that they asked. Now, I don't expect a huge turnout or anything, but it should be a good time and great practice for promotions I'll have to do in the future with the two new books that are coming out. I have no idea what I'll talk about, but I have time to figure that out. I'll be sure to post how it went after the fact...good or bad! :) The details for the event are on the front page of the website. It'll be May 22nd at the Plattsmouth Public Library at 6:30pm. ![]() As you may or may not know, I was in radio for 12 years before I merged into the writing world. A gal I knew from my radio days contacted me and wanted to do an interview with me for a short radio feature she does on a weekly basis. I used to be the production director at the station group where she works and I remembered producing those very features. It was strange being on the other side of things this time around! I was able to actually go to the station kid-free to record with her. We chatted for a while and then recorded the feature. It's hard to get much or everything into 2 minutes but we did what we could! I asked the producer to email it to me when it was complete and below, you should be able to put play on the audio and hear the actual feature that will be airing mid-May in Omaha. After the book signing is over, they said they would take that portion of the program out and use it as more of a generic feature when they need filler. Works for me! It was weird being back in the studio as more of a guest. I'm so used to running things on the other end when I was there. But though it brought back memories, I can honestly say it didn't make me miss those days. Instead, it affirmed that I am in the right place where I am now...at home with my kids and writing up a storm whenever possible!
